There are literally hundreds of ways to attract more users to your website, and hundreds more to convert them users to paying customers. One of the most important things to do first is to add your website to Google. If you are not listed, what hope do you have? If you want to move things along a bit quicker there is Google AdWords. Again, this is something you can do yourself, but can become costly if you do it wrong.

Search engine optimization

Search Engine Optimization is a touchy subject. As soon as it became obvious that it was important, a lot of part-time developers jumped on the bandwagon and offered to get you to the top of the Google search results for next to nothing. The problem was, in most cases it never happened. In my opinion SEO is very important, and very effective when done correctly. Ideally it should be done when building a website, if not it will take a minor rebuild to get it right.

Social promotion

Social Promotion is all about spreading the word in a place where people are in a position to hear you. Set up a Facebook Business Page, submit your articles to Digg, and do yourself a big favour, get a Twitter account. Use the search function to find out who is talking about your industry and follow them. I cannot stress the importance of networking with Twitter right now, get there, before your competition does.
